Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke, the German Christian preacher who has made Africa his mission field, and who  is credited to have converted over 77 million people to Christ through his gospel, is dead.
In a statement by his wife, Annie Bonnke, the evangelist passed on Saturday at the age of 79.
“Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, it is with sorrow that the Bonnke Family would like to announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke,” Anni Bonnke said in a statement on Saturday afternoon.
“He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on December 7, 2019. For the past 60 years he has preached the glorious Gospel of Jesus throughout the entire world.
“We want to thank you on behalf of him and our family, for your kind love and unwavering support, which enabled him to preach the matchless message of salvation to countless people.”
Over the past 50 years, Bonnke had preaches on the soil of Africa where he began in the town of Lesotho as a missionary.
The Evangelist Bonnke Crusade hosted under the Christ For All Nation ministry saw large crowds and the move of God’s Spirit.
In his last visit to Nigeria, Bonnke publicly announced and anointed Evangelist Daniel Kolenda as his successor in a crusade held along Lagos Ibadan Expressway in 2017. This act was significant as ministers of God could read the handwriting on the wall.
The general of God will be missed for all his works and passion for the gospel as expressed in his book, Evangelism by Fire.
He is survived by wife and three children.

The Benue State governor, Dr. Samuel Ortom has threatened legal action against the Presidency if it decides to go ahead with the Grazing Reserve Policy.

In an interview with journalists in Makurdi on Sunday, Ortom insisted that the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria superceded the Northern Nigeria Law that provided for grazing reserves.

Governor Samuel Ortom

The governor insists that Benue will not concede any land for the grazing policy, especially as such lands do not even exist.

“The truth is that if the entire country had accepted ranching, then why is Mr. President insisting on open grazing when there is no land for such.

“In the 50s when this policy was initiated what was the population of Nigeria, it was less that 40 million but today we are more than 200 million. The 923 square kilometer is not even enough to cater for the population. The reason Mr. President is insisting to some of us, I think there is a hidden agenda.

“Mr. President has aides, the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN) and other lawyers around him should advise him. For God sake it is laughable and it appears we do not know what we are doing.

“Under my watch, this state will not accept open grazing . I have already briefed my lawyers should Mr. President insist on going ahead with the Policy,” Ortom stated.
